Stolen minutes 'twixt
dawn and day when only I
am awake: magic.

I love this post cause it is sweet and simple. I love the fact that you captured something that I truly enjoy and that is the peace and quiet of being able to see what is happening before the rest of the world in the first few hours of the morning.

I've done many jobs that meant I was awake for this time of day. It's an amazing hour. Yet, when you don't have to be up, who does?
Laziness makes us miss so much.

Exactly - a little magic in that time! Very nice!

I remember those moments, and even without children around they still feel stolen and magical.

It's been a long time since I simply savored the dawn of a new day. Thanks for reminding me to stop and take in this important ritual.

Lately I've been pretty lame about responding to comments, so I'm going to try to do better.

Paisley, Cricket, Aubrey, NCS, Tumblewords, Marcia--thanks for your kind words!

Jadey, glad you could relate.

Anthony, yes, I think I get lazy and forget how much I like the morning when I make the effort to get up early.

Clare, nice to see you again! I can't claim credit for the photo, but it is is a local scene, taken not far from where I live.

Dory, thanks so much for your ongoing support of my creative process. I loved our chat yesterday, and I appreciate your encouragement more than I can say. (((Hugs, sis!)))

The simple surprise that the magic is there for us to seize, anytime of day. Especially the sunrise, yes, especially the morning.

I wish you well.

Hello Islander –

This is a note to tell you I’m genuinely happy to see you on the Island. I founded the Island originally as a temporary destination for those of us set adrift when Poetry Thursday sunk. But the Island has flourished… because of writers, like you, who come to enjoy the tropical breeze, and just write -- for the sheer pleasure of it! So, the beaches remain open, and all are most welcome!

Poetry Thursday is now ReadWritePoem. Check them out if you haven’t. The crew at Totally Optional Prompts is doing a fine job. Both are excellent writing destinations.

I am slowed a bit with back pain. This has hampered my time at my computer -- so, I have not been able to read many of the posts. I will catch up when I’m steadier at the helm. I am dictating this to my wife, who will kindly post it for me. Kathy is a dear!

See you on the island. I have a prompt for this Friday I think should spark some fun and interesting writing.

May your muse be kind…

…Rob

I love this haiku. It captures what it's really like to have those delicious moments to yourself when no one else can disturb you . . . mine are in the afternoon, and I love them.

Rambler, UL—thank you.

Littlewing, Gautami, Jeques—I didn’t used to be a morning person, but now it’s my favorite time of day.

L the D—I love spending time with other people, but solitude is, like you said, delicious!

Rob—thanks for the heads-up.
